Biography
Brandt Brauer Frick was founded in 2008 with the approach to fuse repetitive grooves with the ethereal sounds of contemporary classical music. The BBC hailed the trio as "concert hall compositions for the clubbing generation," and their music has since entranced audiences around the world.
With five studio albums under their belt, including collaborations with a host of notable artists such as Nina Kraviz, Gudrun Gut of Einstürzende Neubauten and Frank Ocean producer Om'Mas Keith, Brandt Brauer Frick has solidified their place in the pantheon of experimental dance music.
Their performances, both as a trio and with a 10-piece classical ensemble, have taken them to over 40 countries, playing in clubs, concert halls and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Montreux Jazz, Lincoln Center, Mutek, Sónar, Southbank Centre, Centre Pompidou, Kölner Philharmonie, Fabric and Berghain.
They also pushed the boundaries of live performance, collaborating with conductor Jules Buckley and the 40-piece WDR choir in Cologne, and composing and performing the opera "Gianni" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin to sold-out audiences.
With a full symphony orchestra, they marked the 10th anniversary of Mutek Festival Mexico in 2019, and consecutively performed with the renowned Orquesta El Sistema in Caracas, Venezuela in 2020.
Besides their main output, the band has quite regularly remixed or reinterpreted other artists music, such as José González, Yasmine Hamdan, Agnes Obel, Fink, Rocko Schamoni and many more and curated an edition of the long standing mix series "DJ-Kicks" in 2014.
Their sixth studio album, "Multi Faith Prayer Room," will be released in May 2023 on Because Music, featuring Mykki Blanco, Marina Herlop, Sophie Hunger, Azekel and Duane Harden. They also created an immersive audiovisual installation under the same name, which premiered during Art Basel, Miami in December 2022. - A meditation on sound and spirituality.
Brandt Brauer Frick continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in electronic music.
